Who fires someone in the middle of the night like that? Coward!!
New York Mets fire manager Willie Randolph*
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - After weeks of speculation that his job was in jeopardy, Willie Randolph finally got fired by the New York Mets while most fans were sleeping.
Randolph was let go in the middle of the night Tuesday, 2 1/2 months into a disappointing season that has followed the team's colossal collapse last September.
Bench coach Jerry Manuel takes over on an interim basis for Randolph, who led the Mets to within one win of the 2006 World Series. They got off to a strong start again last year but plummeted down the stretch and have been unable to rebound.

*smooches...giving Minaya the SERIOUS side-eye*

I'm not saying Randolph is the best manager out there, but damn- that's how we fire people now-a-days? I'm sick about it...

Yah, lame to fire him that way, but I don't disagree with the decision. With talent like the Mets have and this year's performance along with last year's choke, the nature of baseball is to fire the manager. Every manager eventually gets fired.
Go Cubs!
Very grimy and totally cowardly.
I love me some Mets...well second to the A's but still...poor Willie.
Maybe Minaya is a night owl. he could have been eating lunch at 3am and made the decision.. lol We all knew it was coming anyway, I don't see the big deal about the time frame. you know they told him before the press release went out. It says Willie learned around 11pm after the game. That seems like a normal time.
Raq Santana! Whusssup, girl. You have been missed (don't tell nobody that I said that). LOL. I see that I've missed a couple of posts so I'll go back in a second.
I was gonna email you about this b/c I wasn't sure if you'd do a post on it. I'm a Yankees fan. Even tho I don't like the Messss...you don't do that to your manager. They should have fired him b4 they left town. I mean...everybody saw it coming. It looks real tasteless.
C'mon back to the Bronx, Willie. We'll put you on.
again...welcome back.
Why are we talking about the Mets again? oh right, you do root for the lesser NY team! Sorry sis, give up on your pipe dream for those sorry a** Mets.
Cheers,
Mari
@wow- I don't disagree either, the Mets need more help than Willie can offer, but the way they did this left a sour taste in my mouth!
@blah blah blah- grimy INDEED!
@homer- lunch at 3AM? LOL
@12kyle- of course I had to say something; my team is in crisis!!
@mari- you know what? next time I see you, te voy a dar ese puno... keep it up...
Did they wear black ski masks when they fired him?
@jack- they might as well have! Ski masks in an unmarked van... like the one my landlord drives... you know, the Middle Eastern dude? yeah, like his van...
I agree with Mari. Give up the METS. Everthing about them is shady.
Everyone saw this comming for dude, why you tripping?
@irene- I'm gonna ignore that lol
@bossmack- they had ample time to do this before and EACH TIME acted like they had his back: no, we're not letting him go, etc... and then this.
and like 12kyle said- why make dude fly all the way to LA just to fire him? they should have just told him to stay his ass in NY b/c he was no longer a part of the team.
dang
willie is my boy
2nd base extra-ordinaire
did a great job too
Willie did not put those under achievers together Minaya did, a bunch of vets getting paid that much should know how to win.
I was so UPSET by this news. Yes I knew it was coming but Willie R is a brownsville native (like myself, he grew up one block from where I did ofcourse not at the same time) and that just sucks!
Minaya is SHADY SHADY SHADY to say the least and then look they lost last night.I Love my METS but this is getting to be too much. Now watch Willie go to another team and they just rock the league (just like everyone who leaves the Knicks).
And 12kyle really, the yankees REALLY ATL does have a team HAHAHA
