Normally I wouldn't commemorate this day; I try not to let them fools responsible know that they gave me nightmares for years even though I was living wayyyyyyyyy uptown, far from the wreckage, when the towers fell.
But at the precipice of my recent "down cycle" which began this weekend, I went back to my girl Ani for a quick pick-me-up, and came across this kick ass poem she wrote, one I used to listen to over and over and over:
Self Evident - Ani DiFranco
I have a serious girl-crush on her. For real.
*smooches...with love for Ani so deep you'd think I was her lover*
----------
as a matter of fact, let me check her tour schedule. It's been a minute since I've seen her live...
no matter what's troubling me in my life, it's nothing that can't be healed with a little Ani in my life... and a John Cusack movie mini-marathon ;)

This was a nice poem. This is the first I've heard of this Ani person, let me google her.
didn't she used to have a buzz cut? or am i mistaking her for someone else?
@super dave- I'm surprised... I mention her a lot, but maybe I haven't in a while; my tagline (not just some sniveling girl) is swiped from THE song ("origami") that finally boosted my courage and allowed me to let my bad marriage go
@pcd- yup, that was her. she's had a buzz cut, dreads, etc. she's like the hippie version of Madonna LOL
I have heard the name but never listen to her I'll look into her now.
I love this poem. I've heard of her but can't say I've invested much into really getting into her work. Now I will
i heard about her before...she is dope.
she reminds me of an old teacher from 3rd grade.
nice poem
i've never heard of her, tho
