"There Was Always Something More Important To Do"

You know what I've been thinking about lately, but not in a sad and tear-filled morbid way? My Grandma.

Okay, let's be real. There were a little bit of tears, but not a lot.

Anyway, she's been on my mind a lot because of all the family that has come back in my life lately: the uncle who left her house angry and didn't look back; the cousins who have nothing but fond memories of her food and love; my Papi who's back in NY, looking thinner and older than I remember him.

And when I think about how preoccupied I am playing around on Twitter, hustling to find work, partying like a rock star, dating, etc, and how more often than not I put my family on the back burner expecting them to just wait on me, it makes me sad. Like I didn't learn my lesson from the last time I failed to keep in touch with a loved one and then she DIED.

It has to stop. I need to make it stop.

I'm stopping it. NOW.

Nothing is more important than my family.

I don't know about y'all, but I don't want any(more) regrets in my life.

*smooches...not sweating all the events I'm missing*

nothing beats snuggling w/my babies anyway. Except Prince in concert... I will abandon these heffas for Prince in concert!

I love the message, and the thought. However, I find it funny that you use a Phil Collins song. Didn't dude get divorced because he was a crazy workaholic who was never at home???

@tyrone- I stick by my song choice. It'a about the words, not the artist O_o

Fair enough. I was thinking about family too. Instead of running in Yankee Stadium on 8/15, maybe I'll visit my grandmother, seeing as it's her birthday and all.

But you know how family is. Someone will start fighting.

Good for you sweetie.Family is VERY important because in the end no matter how good or bad they are, they are all you have.

Here here to family and we quote my beloved grandmother (gone but always with us in spirit) every time we're together ... God bless the occasion that brought us together. I'm not religious by any means but AMEN!

My niece is just over two months old, sister's husband's cousin's girlfriend (ooof) had her baby not an hour ago, dad and stepmom and aunt and uncle are driving in next week, aunt and uncle coming in the week after that.

And that's just a few of us. But I love every one of their crazy asses.

Agreed - definitely nothing more important in this world than family and the time spent with fam.
