We need book-loving volunteers to fan out across America on April 23, 2012! Just take 20 free copies of a book to a location in your community, and you just might change someone's life. Please sign up by Feb. 1.
The goal is to give books to new readers, to encourage reading, to share your passion for a great book. The entire publishing, bookstore, library, author, printing, and paper community is behind this effort with donated services and time.
I signed up to hand out copies of "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" by Pulitzer Prize-winning DOMINICAN author, Junot Diaz, over by Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. It's a crazy-busy place and I'm actually a little afraid of having to stand out there and hand out books to people who might look at me like I'm crazy, but I've been talking about wanting to be involved in some sort of literacy outreach program and here it is: My big chance to give back. That's an awesome idea. We'll be on vacation that week, but I'd like to donate some $$ to the cause.
Totally forgot to sign up so I'm glad I checked out your blog. I just registered and the three books I listed were all ones I read - Book Thief, Bel Canto, and The Stand - and absolutely loved.
Hope they pick me to spread the geek love!
